Wang Yi meets Saida Mirziyoyeva in Beijing
On Wednesday in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan. Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stated that under the strategic guidance of the heads of the two states, China Uzbekistan relations have achieved a leap forward in development.
When two countries separated by thousands of kilometres but bound by the shared history of the Great Silk Road come together for dialogue, it is a reminder that geography has never been a barrier to genuine partnership. China and Uzbekistan are not just regional neighbours but strategic allies whose interests intertwine in energy, transport, trade and culture. Mirziyoyeva stated that Uzbekistan looks forward to maintaining high level exchanges with China and deepening practical cooperation in various fields.
Relations between China and Uzbekistan have developed rapidly in recent years. The two countries are actively cooperating within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, implementing joint infrastructure projects, including railway and energy ventures. Uzbekistan is an important partner for China in Central Asia, and China is one of Uzbekistan's largest trading partners. The two countries also interact within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and other multilateral formats. Saida Mirziyoyeva's visit to Beijing, where she serves as head of the Presidential Administration, underscores the high level of trust and the parties' commitment to further deepening their engagement.
