A Roundtable Discussion on Turkmenistan's initiatives at the UN and the Khalk Maslakhaty Meeting Was Held in Mashhad


A roundtable discussion on the upcoming Khalk Maslakhaty meeting and the UN General Assembly resolution "Year of International Law, 2028," adopted on Ashgabat's initiative, was held at the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Mashhad, Iran. The diplomatic mission also hosted a thematic exhibition of books by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as works of decorative and applied art and photographs depicting the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
The discussion was attended by Consulate General staff, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora in Iran, cultural and healthcare figures, as well as journalists from the Magtymguly Adyndaky and Gülistan Ykdysady publications, and the Ülkämiz and Sedaýe Gonbad news agencies. Participants emphasized that the meeting of the People's Council, to be held in Ashgabat on September 23, 2026, on the eve of the 35th anniversary of independence, will be a key socio-political event for summarizing the country's development and developing long-term state priorities.

Special emphasis was placed on the international agenda. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's initiative to declare 2028 the Year of International Law was formalized in the form of a UN General Assembly resolution, co-sponsored by 78 states. Roundtable guests noted that such broad support from the international community confirms the authority of neutral Turkmenistan in matters of strengthening the legal foundations of global security and developing equitable multilateral dialogue.
