From July 25 to August 16, specialists from Turkmenistan are taking part in an international research internship at Clausthal University of Technology in Germany. The programme is organised within the framework of the “European Union for Green Development of Turkmenistan” project, implemented jointly by GIZ and the European Union.

The Turkmen delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the State Concern “Turkmengaz”, the State Energy Institute, and the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev. Participants are studying the fundamental principles of artificial intelligence and neural networks, data processing methods, as well as techniques for detecting failures in production processes.

During practical classes and laboratory sessions at the German university, the specialists are examining technologies for well integrity monitoring and deep drilling. In addition, using AI algorithms, they are modelling the operation of solar power plants and forecasting their effective output.

Particular attention is being paid to technologies for detecting and reducing methane emissions. Mastering these methods will help improve environmental safety and reduce energy losses in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector.

As part of the programme, visits are planned to major industrial facilities in Germany, including a plant for processing sulphur-containing gas, as well as wind and solar power plants. This will allow the delegation to observe advanced green technologies directly in real production conditions. The knowledge gained will be an important step towards the digitalisation and sustainable development of Turkmenistan’s domestic industry.
