Ecology of the Caspian Sea and Upcoming Leaders’ Meeting in Avaza Were Discussed in Tehran
On August 11, a conference dedicated to Caspian Sea Day was held at Iran’s Department of Environment.
The event was attended by the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Department of Environment, Shina Ansari, senior representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Majlis, ambassadors of the Caspian littoral states accredited in Tehran, as well as the governors of Golestan and Gilan provinces.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on pressing issues related to preserving the region’s environment. Speaking at the conference, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan emphasized that Caspian issues occupy a key place in the foreign policy agenda of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The country consistently advocates the development of international environmental cooperation and the strengthening of dialogue among the states of the region, including within the framework of the United Nations.
Particular attention was paid to the upcoming meeting of the heads of the Caspian littoral states on environmental issues, scheduled to take place on October 9, 2026, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
Participants described the summit as a timely and highly important initiative for ensuring environmental security. They expressed confidence that the meeting in Avaza would provide an effective platform for developing solutions aimed at preserving the region’s natural environment and expressed their appreciation to the Government of Turkmenistan for organizing this important forum.
