Turkmenistan Among Top 3 Countries for Applicants to RUDN University in 2026


Turkmenistan ranked among the top three countries for the number of applications submitted for admission to the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia during the 2026 admissions campaign. RUDN University Rector Oleg Yastrebov announced this at a press conference summing up the Admissions Committee's work, TASS reports.
In 2026, international interest in studying at RUDN University demonstrated record growth: applications were received from 136 countries, with more than three applicants per place for state-funded places through Rossotrudnichestvo, and over 1,500 applications for private placements. China, Turkmenistan, and Turkey accounted for the majority of international applicants, cementing Asian and CIS countries' leading positions in terms of the total number of applicants. General Medicine, along with dentistry, international relations, management, and philology, have become the most sought-after majors among international students.
During the 2026 admissions campaign, RUDN University recorded a record number of applications, receiving approximately 330,000—130,000 more than the previous year. Subscriptions for undergraduate and specialist programs have been fully completed, and among the most popular programs, demand for technical and natural science majors has doubled.
