The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a conference dedicated to the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution "Year of International Law, 2028." The document, initiated by Ashgabat, was supported by consensus on July 24 at the 106th plenary session of the current UN General Assembly session, and 78 states co-sponsored the draft.

The event was attended by diplomats, researchers from the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy, as well as faculty and students from the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International University for the Humanities and Development.

The main outcome of the meeting was the transition from diplomatic approval of the initiative to its practical implementation. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov called on the participants to systematically implement the set of measures previously approved by the head of state at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The work that has begun encompasses the preparation of two fundamental documents: the draft National Action Plan for 2026–2028 and the National Concept "International Law and the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan." These steps are intended to link academic legal research with applied diplomacy and strengthen the legislative foundations of the country's neutral status in the modern system of international relations.
