The Government of Turkmenistan summarized the country's macroeconomic development for the seven months of 2026 at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Saturday, August 1. According to the data released, the gross domestic product growth rate was 6.3%. The statistics reveal an important structural shift: the main growth was driven not by the raw materials sector, but by logistics, domestic trade, and the service sector.

The transport and communications sector led the way in terms of growth, growing by 10.3%, reflecting the expansion of transit corridors and active digital transformation. Domestic trade continued to show strong performance, growing by 8.5%, while retail trade volume increased by 10.1%. At the same time, the service sector grew by 8.4%, and the construction sector, driven by infrastructure projects, increased by 6.7%. The agricultural sector also showed steady growth, up 4.1%, and industry, up 2.6%.

Overall, the country's production volume increased by 10.4% over the first seven months of the year compared to the same period of the last year. Positive momentum continues in the foreign economic sector: Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover increased by 9% from January to July, confirming strong demand for domestic products and continued business ties with foreign partners.
