Turkmenistan's transport and communications sector continues to demonstrate strong growth, remaining one of the key drivers of the national economy in the first seven months of 2026. As reported at the Government meeting on August 1, the total volume of work performed and services rendered in the sector increased by 14% compared to the same period of the last year, reflecting the rapid growth of domestic and transit flows.

The most significant growth was recorded in the road and air transport segments. The volume of services provided by the Ministry of Road Transport increased by 18.8%, while that of the State Service "Türkmenhowaýollary" increased by 18.5%. This comparable growth indicates a parallel expansion of passenger air travel and the intensification of road transport logistics routes, ensuring the delivery of cargo "to the final destination."

Overall, across all modes of transport, freight traffic achieved 103.6% of planned targets, while passenger traffic achieved 102.4%. Related industries also demonstrated positive results: the volume of services provided by the Ministry of Communications increased by 15.5%, supporting logistics with digital services, while the railway sector grew by 7%. Taken together, these indicators confirm the consistent strengthening of Turkmenistan's role as a key hub for the region's most important transport corridors.
