President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. In his speech, the head of state emphasized expanding regional dialogue and detailed five key agenda items for the upcoming Summit, scheduled to be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in October 2026.

At the beginning of his speech, Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov for his hospitality and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes for success to the summit participants from the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The head of Turkmenistan also congratulated the Kyrgyz side on the opening of new infrastructure facilities in Issyk-Kul, noting their importance for the tourism potential of the entire region.

The President of Turkmenistan placed particular emphasis on the full participation of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the regional format. Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the new six-party interaction mechanism will add further momentum to cooperation and bring the fraternal peoples closer together, leveraging their increased joint potential.

The key part of his speech was the announcement of the Eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, scheduled for October 8, 2026, in Avaza.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov reported that the Turkmen side has prepared and sent to its partners a draft agenda for the Summit, covering five strategic areas:

Security and Stability: Exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues of peace and security.

Diplomacy: Further strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

Economy and Logistics: Deepening trade and economic cooperation, expanding energy ties, and developing sustainable transport and logistics corridors.

Ecology and Water Resources: Joint measures to protect the environment, adapt to climate change, and sustainably use the resources of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, as well as coordinating efforts to restore the Aral Sea.

Humanitarian: Developing cultural, educational, and scientific ties, expanding student and youth exchanges.

The head of state also emphasized that a series of major international forums and cultural events will take place on the sidelines of the Avaza Summit during the preparations and actual events.

Concluding his speech, the President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the states of the region will approach the upcoming meeting on the Caspian coast with the utmost responsibility and thanked his colleagues for their constructive commitment to close partnership.
