Entrance exams begin at Turkmen universities: 20 new specialties
Today, July 29, entrance exams have commenced at higher and secondary vocational educational institutions in Turkmenistan.
This year, more than 18,000 people will become students at the country's universities, which is 1,239 more places than last year. Around 11,000 more applicants will enroll in secondary vocational schools. The examination campaign will run until August 24.
New directions and a focus on artificial intelligence
Taking into account labor market demands and the digitalization of the economy, 20 new training areas have been opened in universities:
— Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: The International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has opened programs in "Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems," as well as "Mechatronics and Robotics." A specialty in artificial intelligence and data analysis has also been introduced at the polytechnic secondary vocational school.
— Pedagogy and Languages: The Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute has added specialties in Arabic, defectology, and psychology, while the Dovletmammed Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages has introduced a specialty in the Urdu language.
— Energy and Agro-Industrial Complex: Water resource management using information technology has been introduced at the Agricultural University, while information security and petroleum sector economics have been introduced at the Yagshigeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas.
— Diplomacy: A master's program in "Peace and Neutrality" has been opened at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
An important innovation of this year is the administration of entrance exams in a computer-based testing format in the state language. This system was used in a testing format for the first time at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
To ensure transparency, the examination process is monitored by a specially established State Commission.
