Romania Has Announced Its Readiness to Become a Hub for Turkmen Gas and Logistics Flows

On July 29, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Romania, Annamammet Annayev, held an official meeting with Mihai Daraban, President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The parties focused on key areas of economic partnership, with an emphasis on the energy sector and direct port cooperation.
During the talks, the head of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed interest in reviving the AGRI (Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania Interconnector) Caspian hydrocarbon transit project, which could provide direct access for Turkmen natural gas to the European market. According to Daraban, the infrastructure of the ports of Turkmenbashi and Constanta, combined with the logistics capabilities of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the European gas pipeline BRUA (Bulgaria–Romania–Hungary–Austria), could become a key route for energy supplies from the Caspian region to Europe.
For his part, Annamammet Annayev presented the potential of the Turkmen economy, noting the country's stable GDP growth and its leading position globally in proven natural gas reserves. The Ambassador emphasized that the establishment of a regional distribution center for Turkmen products in the port of Constanta, along with the development of port logistics, will create a reliable foundation for long-term trade and investment cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
