Preparations for the 31st International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2026" (OGT 2026) have entered a new phase. The large-scale forum will be held in Ashgabat from October 21–23 under the theme "Energy. Partnership. Progress."

Organizers have confirmed the participation of world-renowned journalist, economic commentator, and moderator John Defterios, who will serve as the lead international moderator for one of the region's key industry forums.

Preparations for OGT 2026 Reach a New Level

John Defterios's appointment coincides with several important milestones in preparation for the forum. To date, over 150 delegates from around the world have confirmed their participation in the conference, all exhibition space has been fully booked, and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has joined the OGT 2026 Premier Partners.

For many years, he served as a leading international commentator and CNN Business Emerging Markets Editor. His analytical reports and interviews have become part of the global news agenda, focusing on issues related to the global economy, energy security, investment cooperation, and sustainable development.

Over the course of his career, John Defterios has interviewed heads of state, government leaders, ministers, and the CEOs of major international energy companies, financial institutions, and global corporations.

OGT 2026 Will Provide a Platform for Professional Dialogue

The participation of such a respected expert will be an important contribution to further strengthening the forum's international status and will ensure discussions are conducted at a high professional level.

"I am honored to join OGT 2026 as the conference host and chief international moderator. Turkmenistan occupies a key strategic position in the regional and global energy system, supported by a significant resource base, long-standing partnerships, and expanding cooperation with leading energy companies. I look forward to meeting with government officials, industry leaders, investors, and technical experts in Ashgabat and to the opportunity to facilitate a constructive dialogue on the prospects shaping the future of the energy sector," noted John Defterios.
