Apple could move into second place
Analysts estimate that Samsung will retain its leadership in the foldable smartphone segment, but its share could decline from 40% in 2025 to 32% in 2026.
With the introduction of its first foldable smartphone, Apple is expected to immediately take second place with a 25% share, slightly ahead of Huawei, whose share is projected to decline from 30% to 24%.
According to the study, Motorola's share will decline from 12% to 8%, Honor's from 7% to 3%, and the remaining manufacturers will account for 8% of the market, down from 11% the year before.
Foldable Device Market Expected to Grow
Counterpoint Research predicts that the launch of Apple's first foldable smartphone will lead to a 21% year-on-year increase in global foldable device shipments in 2026, intensifying competition in this segment.
Experts also note that as AI technologies advance, devices with large foldable screens will become increasingly popular for everyday tasks, including working with documents, editing content, managing schedules, and transferring information between apps.
