France bans social media for children under 15. The digital environment has become an integral part of life, but its impact on children is raising more and more questions. When algorithms compete for teenagers' attention and endless content feeds replace live communication, the state steps in to protect young minds. The French law banning social media for children under 15 is not just a restriction but an attempt to regain control over the time and consciousness of the younger generation, setting clear boundaries between the virtual world and reality.

This law is considered one of the key reforms of Emmanuel Macron's presidency. Under the new bill, the ban will be introduced in two stages. From 1 September, minors under 15 will be prohibited from registering new accounts on social media platforms. The restrictions will then be expanded next year. From January 2027, all existing social media accounts belonging to minors under 15 will be suspended or permanently closed.

France has become one of the first countries to introduce such strict restrictions to protect children online. President Macron has repeatedly spoken about the need to shield minors from harmful content and cyberbullying. The law also requires platforms to develop age verification mechanisms, which could be a challenge for tech companies.

As CCTV+ reports. Other European countries are expected to follow France's lead as part of a broader strategy to regulate the digital environment for minors.
