ECONOMY, July 20 | ORIENT. Thirteen transactions were registered at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan (SCRMET) last week. The following contracts were concluded in the export segment for foreign currency ($369,000):

Liquefied natural gas: Businessmen from Afghanistan purchased a batch of LNG produced by the Turkmennebit State Concern.

Textiles: Business representatives from the UAE and Turkey purchased cotton fabric and a range of finished goods.

On the domestic market, domestic businesses purchased raw materials to support their own production cycles. The total volume of transactions in the national currency amounted to over 60.6 million manat. The main items purchased were polypropylene (Turkmennebit State Corporation), as well as cottonseed oil, fiber, fabric, and cotton processing byproducts.

The past trading week reflects the underlying structure of current demand. Foreign trade transactions were concentrated in familiar niches—regional imports of liquefied natural gas and textile purchases. On the domestic market, key activity occurred in the processing and light industry sectors, where domestic enterprises continue to meet their planned raw material supply requirements.
