On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending visa free entry for Chinese citizens until 31 December 2027. Under the current policy, Chinese citizens with ordinary passports may enter Russia without a visa to visit relatives, for business trips, tourism, or to participate in scientific, cultural, socio political, economic or sporting events. Transit through Russia also does not require a visa. Each visit may not exceed 30 days. In May, China announced the extension of visa free entry for Russian citizens until 31 December 2027 as part of efforts to facilitate people to people exchanges between the two countries.
The visa free regime between Russia and China has been in place since 2000 and is regularly renewed, reflecting the stability and mutual interest of both sides. In recent years, both countries have actively developed tourism and business exchanges, and the simplification of visa procedures plays a key role in this.
