Iran appoints new Consul General in Mary
Seyed Mostafa Hosseinipour has been appointed as Iran’s new Consul General in the city of Mary. Before departing for his new post, the diplomat met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who outlined the key priorities for the Consulate’s work. The announcement was published by the Iranian government on its official X social media account.
During the meeting, Abbas Araghchi stressed the importance of strengthening Iran–Turkmenistan relations and highlighted the need to further expand bilateral cooperation in the economic, transport and transit, and cultural sectors.
Sharing a long common border, Iran and Turkmenistan have maintained active cooperation for many years in the fields of energy, transport, and trade. Iran’s Consulate General in Mary is one of the country’s diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, alongside its Embassy in Ashgabat.
