CULTURE, July 21 | ORIENT. Turkmenistan has prepared and submitted a package of documents to UNESCO for the inscription of three national heritage sites on the organization's international and regional registers. Since the beginning of the year, experts have compiled detailed dossiers revealing the uniqueness of the country's cultural and scientific heritage.

Centuries-old traditions of traditional medicine based on the use of local endemic medicinal plants, as well as the national art of making and wearing tahya, have been nominated for the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

At the same time, rare written monuments are also receiving international recognition. Manuscripts held in the national collection dedicated to the life and Sufi philosophy of the renowned 8th-century scholar Ibrahim Edhem have been nominated for inclusion in the Asia-Pacific Register of the Memory of the World Programme.

Initiatives to preserve and promote heritage are being implemented in the context of deepening ties with international institutions. Earlier in Ashgabat, they discussed expanding their partnership with UNESCO and ISESCO and outlined new steps to integrate Turkmen cultural values into the global community.
