Turkmenistan's First Steps as an ISESCO Observer Are Outlined


ASHGABAT, July 20 | ORIENT. The National Commission for UNESCO held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where the results of its work for the first half of 2026 were summarized and key tasks for the near future were identified.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting participants placed particular emphasis on the practical implementation of observer status with the Organization of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), which Turkmenistan received in May of this year. The meeting discussed specific mechanisms for interaction and promising educational projects within this international forum.
The commission members also assessed the progress of joint initiatives with UNESCO to preserve historical and cultural heritage, develop science, and promote national values internationally.
