Turkmenistan's national team achieved an outstanding performance at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), held in Tashkent from July 10 to 19, 2026. The prestigious academic competition brought together 363 students from 92 countries, who competed in advanced theoretical chemistry and demonstrated their skills in conducting complex laboratory experiments. The information was published on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

All four members of the Turkmen team returned home with medals. Turkmenistan was represented by students of the Saparmurat Turkmenbashy Specialized Boarding Secondary School in Ashgabat. Eleventh-grade student Palvan Ilmammedov won a silver medal, while twelfth-grade students Diyar Dovletov, Aylar Orunova, and Rustem Jumayev each received bronze medals.

The achievement continues Turkmenistan's long-standing tradition of success at the International Chemistry Olympiad. Over the past ten years, members of the national team have won a total of 33 medals at the competition, including one gold, 12 silver, and 20 bronze medals. In Turkmenistan, winners of prestigious international subject Olympiads are traditionally honored at the state level with medals and cash awards.

The strong performance of Turkmen students on the global educational stage highlights the effectiveness of the country's education system and demonstrates the growing intellectual potential of its younger generation of future scientists.
