Zelensky announces cabinet reshuffle in Ukraine, Svyrydenko likely to become ambassador to US
Cabinet changes are a routine part of the political process, especially when a country faces external challenges and the need to reassess strategic priorities. The reshuffle announced by Ukraine's president is aimed at strengthening diplomatic efforts and redistributing responsibilities. However, specific appointments have yet to be disclosed, leaving room for speculation.
On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a cabinet reshuffle aimed at implementing an updated political strategy. In a social media post, he said the new strategy envisages appointing officials with substantial experience to every priority area of foreign policy. He also expressed his intention to work with Ukraine's political parties to complete the government reorganisation and added that changes would occur in the leadership of law enforcement agencies.
Zelensky thanked Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko for her work and said he had offered her the opportunity to head "a new and important area of relations with a key partner." However, he did not specify whom he would ask to lead the government or what position Svyrydenko would take. Ukrainian and international media report that Svyrydenko is highly likely to become Ukraine's next ambassador to the United States.
Yuliia Svyrydenko was appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine in July 2025, succeeding Denys Shmyhal. Her appointment was driven by the need to strengthen the economic portfolio and reforms under martial law. The reshuffle comes amid ongoing conflict and active diplomatic contacts with Western partners.
As CCTV+ reports. New appointments are expected to be announced in the coming days, and the changes could influence the political balance in Ukraine.
