Togrul Yarmamedov Defended His Diploma Thesis with Distinction at the Surikov Institute
On July 10, the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA) held a graduation defense for sculptor graduates. The examination committee was chaired by Tatyana Kochemasova, Academician and Vice President of the RAA, renowned Russian art historian.
Among the graduates was Togrul Yarmamedov, the successor to a renowned artistic dynasty, who completed his studies with absolute distinction.
Togrul is a third-generation sculptor. His grandfather, Klychmurad Yarmamedov, was a People's Artist of Turkmenistan, a legendary master, and one of the closest friends of the great composer Nury Khalmamedov. Togrul's father, Mamed Yarmamedov, was a renowned painter.
A representative delegation of prominent cultural figures from Turkmenistan gathered to support the young artist at his defense, including Babasary Annamuradov, People's Artist of Turkmenistan, and his wife, Abat Mukhatova, a renowned art historian; Mikhail Pereplesnin, journalist and editor-in-chief of the international magazine "Turkmenistan"; artist Darius Asadullaev; and other representatives of the creative community.
Togrul Yarmamedov's defense differed from the standard exam. While most graduates' presentations lasted an average of 5-10 minutes, the committee discussed the Turkmen sculptor's project for over 20 minutes. Professors and academics showed deep interest in Togrul's work, questioning the artist in detail about his concept and technique.
The defense resulted in unanimous top scores. Togrul received excellent marks in all disciplines, and the committee members expressed particular admiration for his final sculpture.
Togrul Yarmamedov's brilliant success at one of the world's leading art schools is not only a personal victory for the young master but also further recognition of the strength and depth of the Turkmen art school.
