Turkmenistan's GDP Grew by 6.3% in the First Half of the Year, and Gas Production Exceeded 39 Billion Cubic Meters

On July 10, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to discuss Turkmenistan's socioeconomic development in the first half of the year. Macroeconomic indicators for January–June demonstrate stable growth in all key sectors of the national economy, strong investment activity, and a balanced state budget.

For the first six months of 2026, Turkmenistan's gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate was recorded at 6.3%. The breakdown by industry was as follows:

Transport and communications sector: +10.4%

Trade: +8.5%

Services: +8.4%

Construction: +6.7%

Industry: +2.7%

Agriculture: +2%

The country's total output increased by 10.4% compared to the same period of the last year. Retail turnover increased by 10.1%, and foreign trade volumes grew by 7.5%.

The State Statistics Committee recorded a steady upward trend in the industrial and oil and gas sectors. Over the first six months, the country produced 39.147.2 million cubic meters of natural gas and 4.129.8 million tons of oil.

The oil refining and construction materials sectors recorded significant production growth: liquefied petroleum gas production jumped by 64.5%, petroleum bitumen by 39.9%, and lubricants and cement by 7.2%. The food industry also demonstrated steady growth: confectionery production increased by 6.9%, sausages by 6.7%, and dairy products by 4%.

Capital investment from all sources increased by 4.3%, reaching 16.5% of GDP. At the same time, the state maintains a strict balance in investment allocation: 45.1% of capital investment is allocated to the construction of industrial facilities, and 54.9% is allocated to the construction of social and cultural infrastructure within the framework of the National Rural Program and the Presidential Program for 2022–2028.

The logistics sector confirmed its status as a transit hub: freight traffic by all modes increased by 3.7%, passenger traffic by 2%, and the volume of communication services grew by 15.3%.

In agriculture, in addition to a successful grain harvest (an increase of 11.6%), vegetable production increased by 12.8%, potatoes by 4.2%, and melons by 3.3%.
