Ashgabat - Washington: US Senator Steve Daines Received at the Highest Government Level

The official visit of US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources member Steve Daines to Ashgabat was marked by meetings at the highest government level. The American legislator was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
During the audiences, the senator conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from US President Donald Trump to the country's leaders. The Turkmen side, in turn, returned the American leader's best wishes and warmly congratulated all the people of the United States on this significant historical date—the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of American Independence.
At the meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the parties noted that the political dialogue between the two countries has gained significant momentum. Important foundations for this were the Turkmen leader's working visit to Washington to participate in the Central Asia + USA (C5+1) summit, as well as the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People to Florida in February of this year.
The President expressed gratitude to Washington for its continued support of Turkmenistan's policy of positive, permanent neutrality and its constructive UN resolutions. Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Ashgabat's readiness to expand cooperation in the fuel and energy sector and transportation, as well as to implement joint projects in the financial and banking sectors, advanced technology, and artificial intelligence.
Steve Daines also held in-depth talks with Chairman of the People's Council (Khalk Maslakhaty) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The National Leader of the Turkmen People praised the long-standing presence of major American corporations in the Turkmen market, such as Boeing, General Electric, John Deere, and Case, which equipment and technologies are effectively used to modernize key sectors of the national economy.
The interlocutors highlighted energy and transportation as strategic areas of partnership, praising U.S. support for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project and the creation of Eurasian logistics corridors along the East-West and North-South lines.
During the conversation, the senator also highlighted shared interests in sports, noting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's particular focus on developing golf in Turkmenistan, which resonates strongly with the numerous golf enthusiasts in the United States. During the receptions, the importance of humanitarian bridges, including the Ambassadors' Fund for Cultural Preservation programs and educational ties, was emphasized as the foundation of mutual trust between the two peoples.
