Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Coordinate Key Partnership Areas


On July 8, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a representative delegation.
During the audience, the guest conveyed warm greetings from President Ilham Aliyev to the head of state, emphasizing that Berdimuhamedov's recent state visit to Baku in June opened a fundamentally new chapter in the history of bilateral relations.
During the conversation, the importance of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, scheduled for this year in Turkmenistan, was noted.
This summit coincides with Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), giving the event a special geopolitical significance and opening up new opportunities for strengthening multilateral trust and security in the Eurasian region.
The interlocutors highlighted the Intergovernmental Commission as the primary coordinating instrument for the practical realization of the two countries' economic potential. Energy, transport and transit, and humanitarian assistance were identified as priority sectors as the foundations of good neighborliness.
During the visit, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

During talks at the Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed practical steps to expand their business partnership. The heads of the ministries exchanged views on the progress of joint projects of strategic importance, focusing on the energy sector and coordinating positions on regional dialogue platforms.
