Ashgabat honors top artists and presents a book on Iranian cuisine

On 1 July, the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan hosted a ceremonial event dedicated to strengthening Turkmen-Iranian friendship. The program included the award ceremony for the painting competition “Friendship and Brotherhood of Iran and Turkmenistan Through the Shared History, Culture, Art, and Heritage” and the presentation of the Turkmen translation of the book “Selected Dishes of the Bountiful Iranian Table.”

Among the participants were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Rouzbahani, Cultural Counselor Abdolreza Abbasi, diplomats from Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, representatives of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan, as well as faculty members and students of the State Academy of Arts.

More than 50 paintings submitted by professional and amateur artists from Ashgabat, Balkan, Lebap, and Mary regions were entered into the competition. A distinguished jury, headed by Charymurat Yazmyradov, evaluated the works in two categories: professionals and amateurs. Three winners were selected in each category, while two special awards were presented for the best creative idea. All prize winners received diplomas and cash awards.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the cookbook translated into Turkmen by Ajap Igliyeva and Dunyagozel Berdygylyjova. The publication features 10 thematic sections and includes more than 100 recipes of traditional Iranian dishes, introducing Turkmen readers to the rich culinary heritage of Iran. The presentation was accompanied by a themed video, and the event concluded with an exhibition of the competition artworks and a festive reception.
