UNICEF, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have concluded a series of regional roundtable discussions presenting the key findings of the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7).

Held from June 10 to July 1 across all velayats and in Ashgabat, the meetings brought together heads of government institutions, healthcare professionals, educators, and social policy experts.

The MICS7 data provide the most comprehensive internationally comparable assessment of the living conditions of women and children in Turkmenistan. Participants reviewed findings related to healthcare, education, early childhood development, and the protection of human rights.

Particular attention was paid to comparing indicators across regions. This analysis will help the government design more targeted social policies and provide more effective support to those most in need, especially rural families and children with disabilities.

As noted by UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna, high-quality statistics should serve not merely as numbers on paper, but as a foundation for tangible improvements in the lives of every family.

The outcomes of these discussions will help ministries and government agencies allocate budget resources more efficiently, improve the quality of public services, and advance the country's commitments to children's rights and gender equality.
