The head of the Belgian airline praised the potential of Turkmenistan's capital airport, calling it a strategically important and attractive hub for logistics and transport. It was emphasized that Ashgabat International Airport has a first-class infrastructure that ensures stable, safe, and efficient handling of transit cargo, including prompt refueling and high-quality technical support. Georges Chashati particularly noted the favorable conditions Turkmenistan currently offers international logistics operators.
During the meeting, the diplomat and the airline's CEO discussed the upcoming flight schedule and outlined tentative dates. The launch of Air Belgium cargo flights via the Turkmen capital is scheduled for early August of this year. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing a symbolic ceremony to mark the first landing of a Belgian cargo aircraft in Ashgabat.
In turn, the Turkmen ambassador emphasized that the country is consistently strengthening its status as a reliable, safe, and transparent link in the global transport chain between Asia and Europe. The development of aviation logistics is a key part of the long-term state strategy to expand international connectivity and diversify transit routes across the Eurasian continent.
