The Andijan Polka has been entered into the Guinness World Records as the largest performance of a national dance in the world. The dance was performed by 20,000 people in the city of Andijan.

The Andijan Polka is a traditional Uzbek folk dance and musical composition known for its fast tempo and expressive hand movements. Originally performed by men, it gradually became highly popular among women as well.

According to the announcement, “A remarkable cultural event has taken place in the history of Uzbek national dance art — the famous Andijan Polka has officially been included in the Guinness World Records.”

The record-breaking performance took place at Babur Arena stadium.

The dance performance coincided with the declaration of Andijan as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2026. An official representative of Guinness World Records personally observed the event and confirmed that it fully met all required standards, leading to the official registration of the record.

Andijan is a major administrative, economic, and cultural center of Uzbekistan, located in the eastern part of the Fergana Valley. It is an important industrial hub and one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. Founded around 2,500 years ago, the city once played a significant role in the history of the Silk Road.
