Humanoid Robots Outnumber Humans at Figure AI for the First Time

American company Figure AI has become the first enterprise in the world where the number of humanoid robots has exceeded the number of human employees. The startup’s CEO, Brett Adcock, confirmed this by publishing a chart showing workforce growth between 2022 and 2026.
The milestone vividly demonstrates how rapidly automation is moving from theory to real-world production. While the number of androids within the company remained relatively small until early 2025, their population increased sharply after the launch of mass production. By mid-2026, Figure AI's robot fleet had reached 740 units, whereas the team of human engineers and developers grew at a much slower pace and currently numbers around 660 people.
This gap in growth rates highlights that the integration of artificial intelligence into manufacturing is progressing faster than the expansion of the human workforce. The head of Figure AI also shared photographs of dozens of completed robots packed in shipping boxes and ready to be deployed.
Earlier, the startup conducted an experiment in which its latest model, Figure 03, competed against a human trainee in parcel-sorting tasks. According to company executives, although the human won that competition, it was the last time in history that one of their androids was outperformed by an employee.
The development reflects a broader global trend toward robotics and automation. Today, major technology companies such as Amazon and Meta are increasingly relying on AI-driven solutions, while companies including Tesla with its Optimus project, as well as Chinese firms Unitree and Agibot, continue developing commercial humanoid robots.
