Culture Week Was Officially Launched in Balkan Velayat

A large-scale opening ceremony of the annual Culture Week was held in Balkanabat, the administrative center of Balkan Velayat. The creative event is dedicated to the Day of Culture and Arts Workers as well as the Poetry Day of the great poet Magtymguly Pyragy. This year, the central theme of the celebrations is the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s sacred independence.
The forum was officially launched at the “Türkmeniň ak öýi” building, where a congratulatory message from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was read to the participants.

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the Government, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and its affiliated institutions, higher educational establishments specializing in the arts, public organizations, media representatives, distinguished cultural figures, renowned artists, and students.

A large exhibition featuring museum treasures, printed publications, and decorative and applied arts was organized in the foyer of the complex. It was followed by a festive concert featuring bakhshi performers, pop singers, and dance ensembles. The first day concluded with a traditional charity feast (toy-sadaka) and a joint performance by artists from Ashgabat, Arkadag, and Ahal Velayat at the Palace of Culture of Oil Workers.
In addition to the festive program, the forum offers significant practical benefits for professionals. Within the framework of Culture Week, a scientific and practical seminar on the introduction of digital systems and the creation of electronic collections in libraries was held. A methodological meeting dedicated to archive digitalization also took place at the Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.

Furthermore, an interactive meeting between experienced artists, writers, and students was organized, focusing on both classical and contemporary Turkmen literature.
The traditional Culture Week in Turkmenistan’s western region not only helps unlock the creative potential of young people but also sets new standards for digital transformation in the country’s cultural and educational sphere.
