President of Uzbekistan Speaks at the Plenary Session of the Tashkent International Investment Forum

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the plenary session of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, currently taking place in the capital of Uzbekistan. In his speech, the head of state outlined the key priorities of the country's investment and economic policy and presented large-scale projects in industry, infrastructure, energy, and artificial intelligence.
According to the President, the participation of around 4,000 guests from 100 countries at this year's forum demonstrates the growing international interest in Uzbekistan’s economy and ongoing reforms.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that over the past five years, Uzbekistan has attracted $123 billion in foreign investment. He added that the country's GDP, which was expected to reach $100 billion by the end of 2026 according to forecasts made four years ago, may exceed $180 billion already this year.
“Uzbekistan’s economy is gaining new momentum and entering a stage of new opportunities,” the President stated.
One of the central themes of the speech was the creation of a favorable environment for international investors. The President announced the launch of work on establishing the Tashkent International Financial Centre, where participants are expected to benefit from a special tax regime for 50 years. The center will also operate under mechanisms based on English law and an independent international commercial court.
Particular attention was devoted to the development of high-tech industries and artificial intelligence. According to the President, the AI sector could generate at least $10 billion in added value for the country's economy over the next five years.
In this regard, Uzbekistan has already adopted a National Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy and launched the “Five Million Leaders” program. A special zone for AI projects and data centers were established in Karakalpakstan, where investors will be exempt from taxes and customs duties until 2040.
The President also emphasized the importance of strengthening transport and logistics connectivity across Central Asia. Among the priority projects he highlighted were the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, the development of the Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea, and the creation of the Trans-Afghan Transport Corridor.
A delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agakhanov, is also participating in the forum. The Turkmen delegation is taking part in plenary sessions, panel discussions, and business meetings.
The event is being covered by regional and international media outlets, including ORIENT. Concluding his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that Uzbekistan intends to continue pursuing an open investment policy and expanding international cooperation.
“For foreign entrepreneurs who come to our land with deep trust and promising ideas, the doors of New Uzbekistan will always remain wide open,” the President of Uzbekistan stated.
