Kazakhstan’s First AI University Will Welcome Students This Summer

This summer, Kazakhstan will begin accepting applications to the new Qazaq AI Research University (QAIRU), which will become the country's first university fully dedicated to training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence.
All instruction at the university will be conducted exclusively in English. The admissions campaign will begin on June 20, 2026.
According to Kazakh media reports, the university plans to enroll 400 undergraduate students and 100 master's students in its first academic year. Applicants seeking admission to undergraduate programs must provide results from the Unified National Testing (UNT) in the profile subjects of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The minimum passing score for fee-based education will be 70 points, while applicants competing for educational grants will need to achieve at least 90 points.
Special attention will be given to English language proficiency. Applicants must submit one of the following international certificates: IELTS with a score of at least 5.0, TOEFL ITP with a minimum score of 460, or TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 65. Candidates without an international language certificate will be offered an internal English-language interview.
The launch of the QAIRU project on the alem.ai platform is expected in the autumn of 2026.
