Mongolia Expresses Interest in Cooperation with Turkmenistan on the Middle Corridor


Issues related to expanding transport and logistics cooperation among Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and Tajikistan were discussed during a meeting in Ulaanbaatar attended by Deputy Minister of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan Hezretguly Charyyev and representatives of the transport authorities of the three countries.
During the talks, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to actively developing cooperation in the railway sector. Participants also discussed prospects for expanding collaboration in civil aviation, rail and road transportation, as well as creating new transport flows linking countries across the Eurasian region.
According to Minister Borkhuugiin Delgersaikhan, Mongolia views the expansion of transport connectivity with Central Asian countries as one of the strategic priorities of its policy.
“Cooperation in the transport sector is an important factor contributing to economic growth, trade, and production among our countries. Therefore, Mongolia attaches great importance to developing new transport corridors and strengthening ties with the countries of Central Asia and Eastern Europe,” the minister emphasized.
The parties noted that cooperation in transport and logistics has become one of the key areas for expanding Mongolia’s political and economic relations with Central Asian countries in recent years.
Special attention during the meeting was given to cooperation with Turkmenistan within the framework of the Middle Corridor project. Mongolia expressed interest in strengthening collaboration in this area and discussed issues related to the international transport route that passes through the corridor.
In addition, the minister announced plans by Mongolia and Tajikistan to expand cooperation in air and road transport. The parties intend to sign an air services agreement in the near future.
