Turkmenistan and Slovakia Are Establishing a Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation


At the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, chaired by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday, June 12, a decision was made to expand the geography of interstate cooperation in the European direction. During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported in detail to the head of state on the comprehensive preparations for the first, inaugural meeting of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Relevant government agencies are currently taking all necessary practical steps to legally establish this structure and coordinate the organizational details of the upcoming meeting. The agenda of the meeting of the new bilateral platform is planned to include a wide range of pressing issues related to long-term partnership in trade and economics, fuel and energy, construction, transport and communications, as well as high-tech information technology. Along with the industrial sector, commission members will examine in detail promising joint projects in agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, medical science, education, culture, sports, and tourism.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan is consistently pursuing productive and mutually beneficial economic cooperation with countries in the European region, including the Slovak Republic. The head of state approved the proposal, aimed at further diversifying the development of interstate relations, and signed the corresponding regulatory document officially approving the composition of the Turkmen component of the newly created structure.
The head of Turkmenistan instructed Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov to maintain strict oversight of organizational processes and carry out all necessary preparatory work to ensure that the first meeting of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission is highly informative and produces concrete practical results for businesses in both countries.
