Turkmenistan's Ambassador to India Has Been Appointed Concurrently as Ambassador to the Maldives

By decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of India, Shalar Geldynazarov, has been concurrently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Maldives (with residence in New Delhi).
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Maldives were established on September 25, 1992. The appointment of the head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in India as concurrently as Ambassador to the Maldives is an established international practice designed to optimize diplomatic presence and intensify bilateral contacts in the South Asian region.
Despite their geographical distance, Ashgabat and Male maintain a constructive dialogue, primarily at the United Nations (UN). Both countries share common approaches to global issues such as climate change, environmental protection, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), creating a solid foundation for further expansion of bilateral political and economic cooperation.
