ORIENT | Society. The President of Turkmenistan signed a decree approving the National Action Plan on Gender Equality for 2026–2030. The new document will become a key tool for expanding the equal participation of men and women in the country's socio-economic, socio-political, cultural, and humanitarian fields. All ministries, agencies, and local executive and self-government bodies are required to implement the measures outlined in the plan, TDH reports.

In practice, this means further developing programs to support women's entrepreneurship, ensuring equal access to quality education, high technology, healthcare, and public administration, and eliminating any barriers in the labor market.

The document places particular emphasis on the international dimension. The adoption of the new plan through 2030 confirms Turkmenistan's consistent commitment to its obligations under global UN conventions and treaties. The country does not simply declare equal rights, but creates a clear legal and practical basis for these principles to work in real life. This document logically continues previous state programs in the areas of human rights and social equality. Integrating a gender approach into national economic projects will allow Turkmenistan not only to strengthen its social capital but also to improve its international rankings in sustainable development.
