Turkmenistan's Consultations with the IMF Mission Began in Ashgabat

Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyev met with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Anna Rose Bordon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The experts arrived in Ashgabat as part of their traditional annual consultations under Article IV of the IMF Agreement.
During the talks, the parties thoroughly analyzed the current state and prospects of the partnership, focusing on key aspects of macroeconomic policy, the sustainability of Turkmenistan's financial system, and measures to minimize global economic risks, the country's Foreign Ministry reported.
One of the main areas of discussion was an analysis of external factors influencing the regional economic agenda. In this context, IMF representatives noted the timeliness and importance of the steps Ashgabat is taking to protect the national economy. This involves the consistent diversification of export routes, large-scale modernization of transport and logistics infrastructure, and the efficient use of internal resources.

The economists paid special attention to Turkmenistan's integration into the global trading system and its preparations for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The IMF delegation praised the Turkmen side's comprehensive efforts to align national legislation with international standards, as well as the modernization of its state statistics system.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to continuing the pragmatic dialogue. The conclusions and recommendations of the current IMF mission are expected to help strengthen economic stability and stimulate further prosperity in the region.
