On Monday, May 11, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received a Malaysian delegation led by Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marikan, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee on Political Affairs, and including senior executives from the Petronas Group.
During the talks, it was noted that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of bilateral cooperation. During this period, Petronas has implemented large-scale hydrocarbon production projects and developed the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, as well as provided training for the country's oil and gas industry.
The meeting emphasized the importance of signing a Protocol on the commercial terms of the production sharing agreement between Turkmennebit and Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. for the development of licensed blocks in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.
Malaysian representatives confirmed their commitment to steadfastly fulfilling their partnership obligations, and the head of state expressed willingness to consider new, specific proposals to expand cooperation.
