On March 29, the festive square in Arkadag became the center of celebrations to mark the fifth anniversary of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. The event became a powerful manifesto of the humanism that Turkmenistan communicates to the world.
The celebration began with a welcoming address from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing that caring for every child in a sovereign state is not just a social program, but a sacred duty and a priority of national policy. The official ceremony culminated in the presentation of state awards. UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Saakyan and UNICEF Representative Jalpa Ratna were awarded Arkadag medals.
This award ceremony symbolized the profound recognition of the contribution of international organizations to the development of the charitable traditions of the Turkmen people. In their response, UN representatives noted that they were deeply honored to receive such significant awards in a "magnificent city of striking beauty" and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bridges of trust for the sake of children's future.
Speeches by Mejlis Speaker Dunyagozel Gulmanova and Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova further highlighted the Foundation's achievements. It was noted that in five years, the organization, created on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, has transformed into an effective institution for child protection, where the centuries-old humanistic values of our ancestors have found a modern, technological embodiment.
Foundation Vice President Oguljahan Atabayeva emphasized in her speech that 2025—the International Year of Peace and Trust—has become a breakthrough year for the organization. From Ashgabat to Monaco and Beijing, the Foundation's voice has been a call for solidarity and compassion.
The celebration continued with a vibrant concert featuring artists. Musical and literary compositions prepared by young talents from the Shukur Bakhshi School of Arts, together with renowned artists, filled the square with a creative atmosphere. The performance of both national and renowned international works highlighted Turkmenistan's openness to the world and the universality of its ideals of kindness.
This day in Arkadag demonstrated that in five years, the Foundation has become more than just an instrument of assistance, but the soul of the nation, building a world where every child is surrounded by warmth, attention, and faith in a brighter tomorrow.
