The visit of National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the People's Republic of China concluded on March 19 with a landmark visit to the Equuleus International Equestrian Complex in Beijing. This visit was a clear demonstration of how shared cultural values and centuries-old horse breeding traditions serve as the foundation for modern humanitarian dialogue between countries.
At the central entrance, the distinguished guest was greeted by leaders of the China Equestrian Association and academic representatives, who noted the Chairman's exceptional contribution to the global popularization of the Akhal-Teke breed. A ceremony was held to mark the visit, featuring the performance of traditional melodies on Chinese folk instruments. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Chinese musicians to visit Turkmenistan to participate in celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country's independence and National Day of the Turkmen Horse.
During the tour of the complex, special attention was paid to the continuity of traditions. Chinese specialists emphasized that Akhal-Teke breeding in China is strictly based on traditional Turkmen methods, which is key to preserving the purity of this unique breed.
The National Leader of the Turkmen People was also shown dogs of Chinese breeds, which provided an opportunity to discuss the development of national dog breeding in Turkmenistan. The Turkmen Alabai, recognized as part of the universal cultural heritage, is currently under special state protection, and extensive scientific research on its breeding creates a broad field for the international exchange of experience.
The central event of the meeting was a discussion with members of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Association. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the symbolism of "equestrian diplomacy," recalling that the Akhal-Teke horse gifted to Chinese President Xi Jinping 12 years ago became a living symbol of the strengthening of bilateral relations. During the current visit, another magnificent horse, named Gadyrly, was presented to the Chinese side on behalf of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Speaking about the development of the industry in the birthplace of the "heavenly" racehorses, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned the new "smart" city of Arkadag, where the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy has been established. Today, hundreds of students are studying there, mastering the intricacies of the craft that has made the Galkynysh National Equestrian Group famous worldwide.
At the end of the meeting, the National Leader invited his Chinese colleagues to participate in celebrations and a scientific and practical conference in Ashgabat, which will be held in April and September of this year.
The concluded visit opened a new important chapter in the annals of Turkmen-Chinese partnership, reaffirming the countries' commitment to developing cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.
