The 88th session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, one of the most authoritative global platforms for shaping global transport policy, has opened in Geneva. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Annayev leads Turkmenistan's delegation at this prestigious forum.
The current session, held under the slogan "Promoting Innovation for the Future of Inland Transport," has become a venue for discussions on the automation and digitalization of international logistics systems. The ministerial discussions focus on the implementation of intelligent solutions and strengthening transport connectivity as the foundation for sustainable global trade.

Speaking at the high-level segment, Batyr Annayev emphasized that digital transformation of the industry is a strategic state priority for Turkmenistan. The head of the delegation emphasized the systematic work to update the national regulatory framework, which enables the effective implementation of electronic document management and interstate data exchange mechanisms.
His speech placed particular emphasis on the development of seamless digital transport corridors along the North-South and West-East vectors. Practical cooperation with the UNECE in this area is already bearing fruit, particularly in terms of transforming multimodal transportation and automating information flows.

The Turkmen side also reminded the international community of the profound interconnection between national projects and global sustainable development goals. The foundation of this work is the Decade of Sustainable Transport for 2026–2035, proclaimed on the initiative of our country, which aims to harmonize the efforts of states in creating safe and environmentally friendly infrastructure.
The Geneva session will run until February 20. It is attended by heads of transport agencies, heads of international organizations, and transport industry leaders, who are currently determining the future of international transport in the coming decade.
