Ashgabat, February 6 | ORIENT. In January, agricultural production in Turkmenistan grew by 109.3% compared to last year. Two key areas demonstrated the strongest growth at the beginning of the year:

The Turkmenpagta (Turkmen Cotton) State Concern increased its output to 117.3%. This demonstrates the high efficiency of its processing facilities and the successful marketing of last year's harvest.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection reported a 116.4% increase, underscoring the government's focus on greening, biodiversity conservation, and the ecological balance.

January has been a month of major water preparation. Active water collection in reservoirs and drainage system cleaning are currently underway in all regions. The State Water Management Committee exceeded its plan (108.4%), based on its objectives for the rational use of resources, which is the key to success in a hot climate.

Meanwhile, winter wheat harvesting is being completed in the velayats, equipment and seeds are being prepared for the spring cotton sowing, and the development of the livestock and food industries continues (+8.2%).

Summarizing Tangryguly Atakhalliyev's report at a Cabinet meeting on Friday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed that compliance with agricultural standards be strictly monitored, as the quality of January's work will determine the country's food abundance and bountiful harvests.
