UNICEF, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, has completed the installation of a modern solar photovoltaic system at Secondary School No. 33 in the village of Nurly Zaman. This project represents an important step toward creating a sustainable educational environment independent of disruptions in electricity supply.

The primary purpose of the system is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure. Thanks to solar energy, 305 students and the teaching staff now have continuous access to lighting and water. Autonomous water pumps operate on renewable energy sources, ensuring compliance with sanitation and hygiene standards under all conditions.

The technical system includes 62 solar panels with a total capacity of 36 kW, lithium batteries, and modern inverters. All equipment meets international safety standards, and school staff have already received training in its operation.

This initiative was implemented under the “Green School” program and directly supports Turkmenistan’s National Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy until 2030. The project clearly demonstrates that the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies in rural areas effectively addresses climate change adaptation challenges and ensures the continuity of the educational process for children.
