Washington - Ashgabat | ORIENT. Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Sergio Gore.
The conversation focused on progress in strengthening regional security and economic prosperity in Central Asia. Secretary Rubio reaffirmed the United States' commitment to working with Turkmenistan to develop business ties and strengthen bilateral relations, according to the State Department website.
The current talks were a logical continuation of Special Envoy Sergio Gora's recent visit to Ashgabat, during which key aspects of Turkmen-American cooperation were discussed in depth.
The visit of a high-ranking Washington official to the Turkmen capital and the subsequent call from Secretary of State Marco Rubio demonstrate the high dynamism of contacts and the US administration's commitment to direct and open dialogue with Turkmenistan, including in the C5+1 format.
