On January 13, the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus officially began its work in Almaty. On this day, a meeting was held between the Consul General, Denis Meleshkin, and the Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Zhanibek Abdrashov, BELTA reports.
During the ceremonial meeting, the Kazakh side presented the diplomat with an exequatur — a document confirming his official authority. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan congratulated their colleague on the official launch of his mission and assured him of comprehensive support in carrying out his activities within the consular district.
The main objectives of the Consulate General will include the development of trade and economic relations, attraction of investments, and strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties. Special attention will also be paid to protecting the rights and interests of citizens, as well as to the prompt resolution of consular issues in one of Kazakhstan’s largest metropolitan areas.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries have been successfully developing since 1992. To date, the legal and contractual framework of cooperation includes more than 80 international agreements. The opening of the new representative office in Almaty has become a logical step in expanding Belarus’s presence in the region.
The ceremonial launch of the diplomatic mission underscores the high level of trust between the two states and their commitment to long-term partnership for the benefit of both nations.
