This is due to the unique astroclimate, which makes our country one of the best spots on the planet for observing space.

The Legacy of Dushak-Erekdag: Many remember that Dushak-Erekdag Mountain (approximately 2,500 meters in altitude) housed one of the most important observatories of its time. Astronomers from around the world have confirmed that the atmospheric transparency and the number of clear nights here are comparable to the best sites in Chile or Hawaii.

The air here is so stable that the stars practically do not twinkle, allowing telescopes to see objects on the outskirts of the universe with incredible clarity. In the 1980s, there were plans to install giant telescopes (AZT-24 and AZT-30) here, which would have turned this place into the center of world astrophysics.

Safety of the TurkmenAlem satellite: Having our own modern observatory is not just science; it is the "eyes" for our satellite. Monitoring space debris and calculating dangerous approaches directly impacts the longevity of our space infrastructure.

Global longitude "gap": Turkmenistan is located in a unique geographic location. There is a large "gap" between observatories in Europe and East Asia. If the station at Dushak-Erekdag is restored, Turkmenistan will become an indispensable partner for global scientific networks, as only we will be able to "see" specific parts of the sky at the right time.

Investing in the future: Restoring the observatory involves more than just telescopes. It also involves training our own programmers, optical engineers, and data analysts. This is a foundation that will raise the prestige of Turkmen science for decades to come.

Nature has given us a "perfect window" onto the universe. And although the old domes require renovation today, the Kopetdag's potential remains intact. It provides a ready-made foundation for the creation of a space monitoring center, which could become another hallmark of technologically advanced Turkmenistan.
