President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated workers in the oil and gas industry and geology on their professional holiday. The head of state emphasized that the successes achieved in the sector strengthen Turkmenistan's position among the world leaders in hydrocarbon reserves.
The date of the celebration, December 14, is deeply symbolic: on this day in 2009, the Turkmenistan-China international gas pipeline was launched.
In his address, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the industry's ambitious goals are aimed at utilizing hydrocarbon resources, first and foremost, for the well-being of the people, future generations, and the peoples of neighboring countries.
Among the key achievements and ongoing projects, the Turkmenistan-China and East-West gas pipelines, as well as the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) transnational gas pipeline, were highlighted.
The implementation of the TAPI project received special praise. During the International Year of Peace and Trust, construction began on a key link along the Serhetabat-Herat route, known as "Arkadagyň ak ýoly" (Bright Path of Arkadag). This, according to the President, demonstrates Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to promoting long-term progress and sustainable development throughout the region.
The President emphasized the colossal economic importance of the Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest in the world. Its phased development opens new horizons for expanding Turkmen natural gas supplies to international markets.
The head of state noted that the number of countries demonstrating demand for Turkmen energy is growing significantly. This growing interest is also driven by a favorable investment climate for the development of licensed blocks in the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea.
In accordance with national programs, large-scale measures are currently being implemented to increase production levels, develop promising fields, and create large industrial complexes.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined the industry's key objectives:
"The development of oil and gas fields and the production of hydrocarbons, followed by their delivery to consumers, directly require compliance with environmental protection requirements, the implementation of these processes in accordance with environmental standards, and the mitigation of climate impact."
The President emphasized that diversifying the industry's export potential and creating an extensive pipeline network remain priorities in the energy strategy, which is aimed at maintaining energy security and the prosperity of countries in the region.
