Ashgabat, December 12 | ORIENT. Speaking at the International Forum for Peace and Trust in Ashgabat, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon recalled the complex geopolitical competition and weakening of international law, stating that the growth of challenges and threats in the modern world is leading to a slowdown in economic and social development.
The Tajik leader emphasized that "peace and trust play a crucial role in advancing international relations, reducing threats and risks, and creating favorable conditions for cooperation and sustainable development on the global stage."
According to Emomali Rahmon, ensuring these values allows the international community to address the complex challenges of today's world in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and shared responsibility.
At the same time, he emphasized that the negative consequences of environmental threats such as climate change, rapid melting of glaciers, environmental pollution, and other problems also require the consolidation of the international community's joint efforts.
Emomali Rahmon, recalling the Dushanbe processes on water resources and counterterrorism, noted that Tajikistan continually contributes to addressing global challenges and consistently supports all initiatives to strengthen peace and security in the world.
In this regard, last year's proposal by Tajikistan to the UN to declare a "Decade of Peacebuilding for Future Generations" was reiterated.
Emomali Rahmon called the "triumph of peace" "a guarantee of justice, equality, respect for human rights and freedoms" and emphasized that "the international community must cherish this value, relying on trust, dialogue, and cooperation."
It was emphasized that Tajikistan is ready to continue to contribute to ensuring security and sustainable development through universally accepted diplomatic traditions, broad constructive dialogue, and other peaceful means of resolving problems.
