8 December The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, has announced the appointment of Kazakh artist and humanitarian Dimash Kudaibergen as a Global Goodwill Ambassador. The appointment took place in Geneva during the 116th Session of the IOM Council, where Turkmenistan’s delegation also participated.
This elevation in status reflects Dimash’s long-standing commitment to promoting the principles of inclusivity, respect, and solidarity with individuals affected by crisis and displacement.
During the Council session, Dimash performed one of his signature songs for Member State delegations and IOM staff. IOM Director General Amy Pope noted that Dimash’s music extends beyond borders, and his advocacy draws attention to the realities of people who are often ignored.
“Dimash has used his voice not only to touch audiences but to ensure that people affected by crisis are seen and heard,” said Amy Pope.
Dimash Kudaibergen, who previously served as IOM’s Regional Goodwill Ambassador in 2023, has actively championed the interests of people displaced by conflict and natural disasters. Throughout his global “Stranger” tour, he consistently promoted messages of solidarity, reaching over 100,000 concertgoers worldwide.
The artist stressed that he hopes to use his global platform to bring attention to those facing uncertainty and loss: “Every person, regardless of their background, deserves dignity, safety, and compassion.”
